Dan Knutson, LMFT-S, He/Him/His
My name is Dan. I am an LMFT supervisee working with teens and adults, supporting individuals and couples as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Augustana University and my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kairos University. My training and experience have shaped a client-centered approach that blends professional insight with genuine human connection, creating a space where clients can feel supported and understood.
I became a therapist because I wanted to walk alongside people during some of their most vulnerable moments. I deeply value the trust clients place in me and strive to honor it with care, authenticity, and respect. I believe that meaningful healing begins within a safe, collaborative relationship—one where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore their experiences.
My approach is relational at its core, and while I incorporate CBT and EFT techniques, I view the relationship itself as the most important tool for change. I commonly work with concerns such as anxiety and depression, grief and loss, and relationship challenges including communication difficulties and issues with intimacy. Whether working with individuals or couples, my goal is to help clients better understand themselves, recognize patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and strengthen their capacity for connection and growth in ways that feel authentic and sustainable.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing music, and hitting the golf course with friends. These activities help me stay grounded and energized, and I bring that same curiosity and joy into my work with clients.
